Maynardville Fire Capt. rescues injured hawk

Captain David Dyer went to rescue a hawk that was injured on the side of a highway, according to Adam Johnson with the North East Union Volunteer Fire Department.

Northeast Union Volunteer Fire Department's Captain David Dyer helped rescue an injured hawk that was on the side of the highway Sunday afternoon.

That's according to Lt. Adam Johnson with that fire department in Maynardville.

Johnson said Dyer brought the hawk to UT Veterinary Medical Center to receive treatment.

Johnson said this was the first animal rescue for the fire department. The hawk is expected to make a full recovery and does not have any broken bones or wings.
