Saturday marks the a full year since six lives were lost during a horrific crash on I-75.
Six people were killed on June 25, 2015 after a semi-truck slammed into eight cars backed up north of the Ooltewah exit.
31-year-old Tiffany Watts of Morristown and 51-year-old Sandra Anderson of Rutledge were two of the victims in that crash.
People in the area rushed to help, saying it's a day they will always remember.
"We had pedestrians running into the hotel screaming 'We need fire extinguishers, there's been a wreck,'" Tiffany Deocampo said.
"If I hadn't of took the back way home that night, it could possibly have been me in that accident," traveler Tina Skinner said.
Since then, multiple lawsuits have been filed against the trucking company and driver that were involved in the crash.
One family is seeking as much as $50 million, saying the driver's negligence caused the crash which led to pain, mental anguish and suffering.
The driver of the truck, Benjamin Brewer, faces six counts of vehicular homicide and DUI. His trial is expected to begin in November.
