KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — The Knox County Sheriff's Office said that deputies responded to a vehicle fire on Duncan Road early Thursday morning, at around 2:20 a.m. They found one person and one dog dead in the car, according to authorities.
Deputies said that by the time they arrived, flames had fully engulfed the car and Rural Metro Fire was working to extinguish them. The Knox County Sheriff Office's reconstruction unit, fire investigation unit and forensics unit looked into the incident, officials said.
Once the fire was put out, the sheriff's office said that it was clear the car hit a tree head-on.
The victim was sent to the Knox County Medical Examiner's Office, according to a release. The sheriff is not releasing their name.
