Six victims identified in Kalamazoo shootings

KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WZZM) -- We're learning the names of those killed in a shooting spree Saturday night in the Kalamazoo area.

Mattawan Consolidated Schools Superintendent Dr. Robin Buchler and Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety told WZZM 13 Mattawan senior Tyler Daniel Smith, 17, and his father Richard Eugene Smith, 53, were killed in the shootings at the Seelye Kia dealership.

Michigan State Police said the four people killed at Cracker Barrel in Texas Township are Mary Lou Nye, 62, of Baroda, Mich.; Mary Jo Nye, 60, of Battle Creek, Mich.; Dorothy Brown, 74, of Battle Creek, Mich.; and Barbara Hawthorne, 68, of Battle Creek, Mich.

A 14-year-old is currently in critical condition at Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo with injuries from the shooting at the restaurant.

A woman shot at the Meadows Townhomes complex is in serious condition.

A vigil planned for 7 p.m. at Kalamazoo's Centerpoint Church, 2345 10th St. N, is to honor the victims.
