Girls find prom dress of their dreams, benefits YWCA

Girls looking for the perfect prom dress this season were able to find that at the "Say Yes to the Prom Dress" event this weekend, all benefiting the YWCA.

Alpha Chi Omega at the University of Tennessee hosted the "Say Yes to the Prom Dress" event this weekend where all proceeds go to YWCA and put a few smiles on young faces.

Hundreds of lightly used dresses were donated all ranging in colors, cuts, sizes and sparkles. All proceeds go to the YWCA of Knoxville to support victims of domestic violence. The event also helps young girls in need of a formal gown.

"I think a big thing is that it not only helps those women, it also gives back to girls in our own community that might not be able to afford the nicest dress," Reagan Cooper, a member of Alpha Chi Omega, said. "So they can come here and get one that's been used maybe one time. So it's kind of duel purpose which is something we really love about it."

The event will be going on Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m. There is a $5 entry fee for those who want to sell a dress at the event.
