Body of missing Sevier County man found

Steve Flint McCollum was last seen on Jan. 31, 2018 at a home on Birds Creek Road in Sevier County. According to investigators, it's unclear what McCollum was wearing and where he was headed.

UPDATE: 2:30 PM Wednesday: The body of a missing 59-year-old Sevier County man has been found about a half-mile from his home, according to the Sevier County Sheriff's Office.

Steve F. McCollum was reported missing Feb. 3 from his Tatem Marr Way home. Family members said he'd last been seen the night of Jan. 31 leaving his home.

A search commenced that included dogs and drones.

On Tuesday morning, searchers found the body in a heavily wooded area, according to the Sheriff's Office.

An autopsy is being conducted at the Regional Forensic Center in Knoxville to determine cause of death.

Among those helping in the search was the Union County Sheriff's Office and the Gatlinburg Fire Department.
