Blount County Sheriff: 2 in custody following pursuit involving multiple agencies

Blount County Sheriff's Office arrested and charged two people after they led authorities on a chase Sunday afternoon.

Kajuan Ray Young, 29, and Chuckisha Roleek Thomas, 29, were both pulled over by a Blount County Sheriff's deputy for not wearing a seatbelt., according to BCSO The driver, Young, drove off from the deputy on Louisville Road at Topside toward Knox County.

The pursuit continued into Knox County near John Sevier Highway, according to BCSO. Deputies say they saw Young run several cars off the roadway during the pursuit and veered into oncoming traffic.

Knox County Sheriff's Office helped BCSO during the pursuit after Young jumped out of the car while it was moving, letting the vehicle crash into an embankment off the side of the road. He ran off with Thomas into a wooded area, according to BCSO's release.

THP, KCSO, U.S. Marshals Service Smoky Mountain Fugitive Task Force and members of the Fifth Judicial Drug Task Force helped BCSO look for the couple, according to the release.

Knox County Airwatch found the two in the woods. They were both arrested and placed in jail. Bond amounts and court dates have not been set for the two at this time, according to BCSO's release.
