Airbnb hosts in the Knoxville area earned $17.4 million in 2017

Sevierville, Knoxville, Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge are all among the top 10 home-sharing markets in Tennessee.

Knoxville-area Airbnb hosts earned more than $17 million this year.

The short-term rental company announced Thursday that hosts welcomed more than 150,000 guests in 2017 and earned a total of $17.4 million.

Sevierville, Knoxville, Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge are all among the top 10 home-sharing markets in Tennessee.

Starting Tuesday, Knoxville Airbnb hosts will have to begin following new regulations.

They require that Airbnb and VRBO owners live on the property they're renting. Hosts have one year starting Jan. 2 to begin complying with the new rule.
