4 pets die in North Knox County house fire

The fire destroyed half of the home and damaged the rest.

Four pets died in a house fire in North Knox County Tuesday night, according to Rural Metro.

Crews responded to the fire on Foley Drive a little before 7:15 p.m.

Rural Metro said the homeowner tried to extinguish the fire, and attempted to move a burning couch outside the house before calling the fire department, but the couch got stuck in the front door. At that point, the homeowner called the fire department because the fire had grown so large.

The homeowner got out of the house safely, and fire crews forced their way into the home to attempt to rescue three cats and a dog. All four pets died from the fire.

The fire destroyed half of the home and damaged the rest.

Fire officials said you should always call the fire department first in the case of a fire, before trying to extinguish the flames.
