Students at half a dozen East Tennessee schools got a long weekend as officials try to halt the spread of the flu and other illness.
Knox County is one of those systems, taking sick days on Monday and Tuesday (Feb. 5 & 6, 2018) to give kids and teachers the chance to get well.
While classes are canceled, all of the schools are being scrubbed down and disinfected in order to limit flu exposure when students return.
With no staff or students in the building, it just gives us an opportunity to catch up on all of the cleaning and disinfecting that needs to go on," said Lori Hall, Operations Supervisor for KCS.
Knox County kids will return to class on Wednesday. You can get all of the latest school closings here.
