A high-speed chase following a pricey-purse snatching from a high-end Nashville department store ended with a crash and two suspects in custody on Interstate 840 in Fairview.

According to Metro police, two people suspected of stealing thousands of dollars in purses from the Nordstrom in Green Hills got into a minivan and took off following the Thursday morning heist.

"The ran in, grabbed everything they could and ran out," police spokesman Don Aaron said regarding the robbery of mostly Chanel purses.

The pursuit led Tennessee Highway Patrol troopers west to Humphreys County and later down Interstate 40 east and into I-840 in Fairview.

Members of the Williamson County Sheriff's Office and the Fairview Police Department assisted troopers in apprehending the suspects, who appear to be from California, after their vehicle crashed at the Highway 100 exit ramp.

Law enforcement in Dickson and Hickman counties also assisted, police said.
