Man arrested after woman killed, two teens hurt in Western Avenue shooting

Knoxville Police Department is investigating a shooting in northwest Knox County that left three people wounded Sunday night.

UPDATE (Jan. 30, 2018): Knoxville police have arrested a man who's being charged with First Degree Murder in a shooting that killed a woman and hurt two other teenagers.

KPD said officers arrested Elijah Bowman without incident on Monday evening following a shooting on Western Avenue Sunday.

UPDATE (Jan. 29, 2018):

The Knoxville Police Department said a woman has died after a shooting on Western Avenue Sunday night sent three people to the hospital.

KPD said the woman was taken to UT Medical Center with what appeared to be life-threatening wounds along with two other men with non-life threatening wounds. The woman was pronounced dead at the hospital after arriving and both men were treated and released.

The woman killed in that shooting was identified as 29-year-old Denise Stevens. 18-year-old Abdul Tahir and 19-year-old Deantrea Woods were identified as the other two victims.

Knoxville Police Department is investigating a shooting that wounded three people in northwest Knox County Sunday.

Officers at the scene of a home at the 6100 block of Western Avenue told WBIR 10News that two men and a woman were injured.

Two of the victims suffered non-life threatening injuries and one other was said to have potentially life threatening injuries. All three were taken to the University of Tennessee Medical Center.

Police also located three children who were inside the home during the shooting. All three were unharmed.

Knox County dispatchers said the call came in around 8:15 p.m.
