Man, 60, arrested after low speed chase in Knoxville

The suspect, 60-year-old Donald Ray Allen, was taken into custody without incident on Trigg Street.

A man has been taken into custody following a traffic stop that turned into a chase Friday morning.

An officer responded to a complaint of a man harassing individuals at a restaurant on Central Avenue Pike. When the officer arrived, the suspect was gone but witnesses were able to provide a good description of the suspect and of his vehicle, according to KPD.

A vehicle matching the witness descriptions was seen pulling onto Central Avenue Pike from a convenient store so the officer pulled in behind it and verified it was the wanted car.

A records check of the license plate revealed the vehicle, a Nissan X-terra, was stolen, Knoxville Poilce said.

The officer tried to pull them over over and the driver took off which initiated a pursuit that continued for about 30 minutes. KPD said the chase was at low speeds and in light to no traffic.

The suspect, 60-year-old Donald Ray Allen, was taken into custody without incident on Trigg Street.

He faces charges including felony theft, evading arrest, driving on a revoked license, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Allen was also served with an outstanding warrant for violation of parole.
