A judge sentenced a Knoxville man to five years behind bars after he pleaded guilty in May to soliciting a 14-year-old girl.

The Knoxville Police Department said they arrested 38-year-old Shane Courtney McCosh in October 2016 for soliciting a minor, which constitutes a charge of Aggravated Statutory Rape.

McCosh was arrested after KPD's Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force said he tried to meet a 14-year-old girl. Police took him into custody and found a loaded .380 Ruger handgun in his vehicle.

During an interview with investigators, police said McCosh admitted to having a sexual relationship with another underage girl five years before his arrest. ICAC investigators said they are still trying to find the child victim.

In May 2017, the Knox County District Attorney General's Office obtained a guilty plea from McCosh. Judge Steven Sword sentenced him on Nov 9 to a five-year sentence. McCosh will be required to register as a sex offender.
