KCSO: Charges pending for drivers in dirt bike crash that killed a 3-year-old boy

Both the woman and her son were taken to UT Medical Center where the 3-year-old was later pronounced dead, according to authorities.

The Knox County Sheriff's Office said both drivers involved in a crash involving a dirt bike that killed a 3-year-old boy will face charges.

KCSO said 23-year-old Megan Brown was driving the dirt bike and failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of Thebes Lane and Bowsong Lane.

Deputies said the other driver, 27-year-old Jacob Hunter, was driving a Honda Accord when he was driving on the wrong side of the road and attempted to turn left onto Bowsong Lane. The car hit the dirt bike head-on, killing a 3-year-old boy who was on the bike with his mother.

Charges are pending against both drivers.

On Sunday, witnesses told deputies the mother crashed into a car after failing to stop at the intersection of Thebes Lane and Bowsong Lane. Deputies say the child was wearing a helmet, but the mother was not.

Both the woman and her son were taken to UT Medical Center where the 3-year-old was later pronounced dead, according to authorities. The mother is being treated for non-life threatening injures, deputies say.

The man driving the car involved in the crash was not injured, according to officials.
