CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WCNC) - A third arrest has been made in the death of a University of the Cumberlands Baseball player.

Zachary Finch was killed during a robbery after he attempted to buy a cell phone off the internet in June of this year.

Zachary's brother Nicholas Finch told WCNC that Zachary was staying at their parent's house in Mint Hill for the summer. He said that Zachary was meeting people to buy a cell phone from the LetGo app when whoever he met attempted to rob him. Nicholas said CMPD told him that Zachary ran to his car and was shot in the back. Police would not confirm the activity that brought Zachary to the park, but said it was legal.

Two juveniles were arrested in the murder but police announced a third arrest Wednesday.

Charlotte Mecklenburg Police charged 17-year-old Demonte McCain Thursday with the murder of Zachary Joseph Finch.

Officials said McCain was arrested after evidence gathered by homicide detectives led them to identify him as a suspect. Following an interview, McCain was charged with murder, attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon, and conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon.

The names of the other two suspects have not been released.

University of the Cumberlands is located in Williamsburg, Kentucky.
