2 arrested for Maryville aggravated robbery, burglary

Austin Lynn Dixon, 22, of Maryville, and Katelen Elisabeth Shepherd, 20, of Louisville, were arrested on charges including aggravated robbery and aggravated burglary. Dixon also faces a charge for the possession of a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony.

A man and woman have been arrested in Blount County after allegedly robbing a man at gunpoint at his home on Mentor Road.

Austin Lynn Dixon, 22, of Maryville, and Katelen Elisabeth Shepherd, 20, of Louisville, were arrested on charges including aggravated robbery and aggravated burglary. Dixon also faces a charge for the possession of a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony.

Deputies said they responded to a suspicious activity call on Monday around 12:30 p.m. after witnesses said they saw two people wearing masks running to a black Toyota Scion sitting at a business on Mentor Road.

According to the sheriff's office, deputies canvassed the area and spotted a car matching the witnesses' description on Topside Road near Pellissippi Parkway. A deputy followed the car and pulled it over on Cusick Road.

When deputies interviewed the people in the car, they found masks and clothing that matched the description provided by witnesses. A handgun and box of prescription pills were also found in the vehicle.

During the investigation, deputies on Mentor Road, where the business they responded to was, found a 59-year-old man at a residence across from the business who said the suspects broke into his home and robbed him at gunpoint.

Shepherd later admitted to investigators she was part of the incident.

Sheriff’s Office investigators are continuing their investigation.

Dixon was released early Tuesday morning on bonds totaling $225,000 pending a hearing in Blount County General Sessions Court at 9 a.m. February 28. Shepherd is being held on bonds totaling $150,000 pending a hearing in Blount County General Sessions Court at 9 a.m. February 28.
