OAK RIDGE, Tenn. — UPDATE: Oak Ridge Police Department has identified the victim of the fatal two-car crash on Oak Ridge Turnpike as Johnnie Gary, 77, of Oak Ridge.
Authorities say the investigation is still ongoing.
ORIGINAL STORY: One person died Tuesday afternoon after a crash on Oak Ridge Turnpike.
Police said it happened at the intersection with Newport Drive just before 12:30 p.m. Tuesday and traffic was blocked between Montana and Nebraska Avenues for hours.
The driver of one of the vehicles was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Oak Ridge Police.
The other driver sustained non-life threatening injuries and Oak Ridge Police said they were transported to Methodist Medical Center.
