Bike Elf hosted "Bike-A-Palooza" Saturday afternoon to help sell off some of its larger bicycles to adults.
Bike Elf is an organization based in East Tennessee working with young kids. They take bicycles in, refurbish them, and provide them to kids who work hard in incentive-based programs.
One of the co-founders wants to see kids become more active whether that's through riding bicycles or enjoying nature outside.
"First of all, a kid needs a bicycle. Period," Leigh Wilson, co-founder of Bike Elf, said. "Kids today need to be outside riding bikes."
The organization's website says Bike Elf expanded into Knox County in January 2017 through a partnership with the Wesley House Community Center. By July 2017, the organization branched out into Sevier County.
The organization says it has been able to collect, refurbish and donate more than 800 bikes to kids.
